Every time a new season is around the corner, I like to spend some time making a list of intentions. The change of seasons is the perfect time to get grounded and practice intention setting.

It's a good time to check in and see if you are on track to achieve your goals. With each new season I like to ask myself, am I spending my time how I want to? And, what would I like to do differently this season?
My challenge to you is this: find a coffee shop or your favorite spot outdoors and reflect on the list of questions below. Then, write your own list of intentions for the upcoming season. I've included my own list to help you get inspired!
Reflection Questions for a New Season
- What went well for you this past season? What was challenging?
- What do you hope for in this new season?
- Where have you spent the majority of your time in your current season? How would you like this to change in the upcoming season?
- How will your mornings be different in this new season?
- What about your evenings?
- How will your relationship with work change? With social media?
- What relationships do you want to prioritize this season?
- What playful, fun, creative things have you not had time for recently and would like to focus on next season?
- What goals did you make at the beginning of the year? Do they still align with you now? What goals can you work on this upcoming season? Are there any new ones you want to set now?
- How do you want to feel physically, emotionally, and mentally in the new season?
- Close your eyes and visualize yourself thriving in this new season. Describe how you look and feel and write down any intentions as a result of this vision.

My Fall Season Intentions
As we head into the fall season soon, here are the intentions that I wrote down after following the questions above. Let these be used for inspiration as you do your own intention setting practice!
- Keep up my flow at work, and gradually add more to my plate. I've been posting on my blog consistently and sending newsletters weekly. As we head into the fall, adding Pinterest to my weekly rhythm is a goal of mine.
- Continue to improve my photography. Practicing food photography has been a blast this past season, and I look forward to honing my skills even more and putting out the best content I can.
- Move in a way that feels best for my body. I have loved training for a half marathon, and I will continue my training through mid-October until race day. Running makes me feel so good, and I look forward to continuing to lean into that, along with yoga and pilates.
- Embrace my technical, analytical side. Part of blogging is being part IT, part SEO, and part designer. These are areas that I've been starting to learn and understand. This season, I'm ready to full-on embrace these skills and take my site to the next level.
- Have a not-so-routine routine. I've been feeling a need for a bit more discipline in my daily routine. Mostly, I want to wake up earlier so I have a bit more time to get things done on my to-do list for each day. I want to create a flexible routine that's realistic, but still holds me accountable for what I set out to do. This includes finding the right time of day to take photos for my blog!
- Set aside non-fiction and keep enjoying novels. I'm an avid non-fiction reader, but since picking up a novel earlier this month I forgot how relaxing and equally all-consuming books can be! I just finished the first book of A Court Of Thorns And Roses, and I have a feeling my fall season will consist of reading the rest of this series! That being said, I'm taking a pause on brain-intensive non-fiction for now.
- Stay off social media (for now). I've been off social media for 3 months now, and I truly never want to go back. However, I do feel a bit of a pull to start sharing recipe videos on Instagram or TikTok at some point. Now still doesn't feel like the right time, but each season I will reassess!
- Focus on my relationship with myself. Amidst the busy summer season, I have found little time to journal, reflect, or enjoy solo time. While I've really enjoyed the social activities of summer, I am looking forward to the fall season slowing down socially.
- Find an artistic activity I enjoy. I have always loved painting growing up, but did not experience the same joy when I picked it up again recently. I want to challenge myself to try some new artistic hobbies and find something I fall in love with!
- Feel calm and trusting. The past couple seasons have brought a lot of change—some exciting, some scary. I want to feel calm about my circumstances and accept what I can't control, while also being hopeful and trusting that God is in control of my future.
Each season I will add to this list and share what my new intentions are! I hope you enjoy this intention setting experience, and if you feel comfortable sharing, I'd love to hear what some of your intentions are in the comments below!
