Air Fryer Sweet Potato Wedges are smoky, garlicky, and spicy, perfectly tender and caramelized, crispy on the edges, and garnished with fresh lime and flaky salt. The perfect vegan snack or side dish. Gluten-free.

These Air Fryer Sweet Potato Wedges are utterly addicting. They are well-seasoned with smoky, warm spices that you can easily mix and match and get creative with. Garnishing with fresh lime gives that mouthwatering chili-lime flavor that makes this vegan snack vibrant, refreshing, and downright amazing.
Making these Sweet Potato Wedges in the air fryer allows them to use less oil but still get fried on the exterior while maintaining tender, caramelized texture on the interior. Every air fryer is different, so be sure to read the notes, and if you don't have an air fryer don't worry! You can still make these in the oven. See the notes for instructions.

Kitchen Tools Needed
- Cutting board & sharp knife
- Mixing bowl
- Air fryer: If you don't have one you can make these in the oven.
- Silicone mitts: You will need to shake the air fryer basket halfway through cooking, and the air fryer will be very hot. Make sure you have silicone or oven mitts.
- Hot pads: If your air fryer has a lid like mine, make sure you have something inflammable that you can set it on. You may want one for your air fryer basket as well.
What Type of Air Fryer?
Any type of air fryer you have will work here! But the most important thing to note is that every air fryer cooks differently. I use the Instant Pot Pro Crisp, which has a smaller air fryer basket and requires a longer cook time. I recommend checking on your potatoes after 4-6 minutes and again after 10-12 minutes if you are unsure.
Ingredients

- Sweet potatoes
- Avocado oil: Use a neutral, high heat oil here. You can also simply spray the potatoes in cooking spray.
- Salt: Plus flaky salt for serving.
- Garlic powder
- Smoked paprika: Essential if you want deliciously smoky flavor.
- Cumin
- Black pepper freshly ground
- Cayenne
- Lime wedges: For serving—they really make the dish!

2. Fry. Add potatoes to air fryer basket. (If it seems too full you can do this in two batches.) Fry for 20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cook time. See note below about cooking time.
3. Serve. Serve with lime wedges, flaky salt, and desired dipping sauce.

Substitutions & Variations
- Potatoes: You can make these with any type of sweet potato or other potato. Cook time will vary depending on the type of potatoes used.
- Spices: Get creative and use any combination of spices you'd like. This recipe is very versatile! Chili powder, chili flakes, onion powder, or even dried oregano would make nice additions or substitutions.
Expert Tips
- Make extra crispy. Before adding the oil and spices you could toss the sweet potato wedges in a little cornstarch. This will make the exterior extra crispy!
- Serve immediately. While you can store these for several days, they are best enjoyed immediately for optimal flavor!
- Make multiple batches! These will go quick. 😉 Plan to make more than one batch!

Dipping Sauce Ideas
- Spicy Mayo: I usually enjoy these with a quick an easy spicy mayo dipping sauce. Simply add a little vegan mayonnaise to a bowl and stir in desired amount of sriracha! You could do this with a chipotle sauce too, like Cholula.
- Ketchup: Just don't tell my husband! 😉 He has a no sweet potato and ketchup rule, but I think it tastes great!
- Vegan Queso: Serve the sweet potato wedges on a plate and drizzle my Vegan Queso over top!

You can't go wrong with sweet potatoes! 🙂
Storage & Reheating
You can store extra Air Fryer Sweet Potato Wedges in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. They'll crisp back up and taste delicious when reheated in the air fryer at 400F for 4-6 minutes.
You can store leftovers for 5 days if you wish, but they begin to lose their crisp after about 4 days. But these sweet potato wedges can be store in the freezer for up to 6 months! To freeze, lay the sweet potato wedges out on a parchment-lined pan and freeze. Then remove the pan and place the wedges in a freezer-friendly container.
Whether storing in the refrigerator or freezer, let the wedges cool completely before storing.

Notes
- Every air fryer cooks a little differently. Reference your user manual for suggested cook time for potatoes. Or check after 4-6 minutes and again after 10-12 minutes. The more familiar you are with your air fryer, the more you will know how long different food items take! I know the Instant Pot Pro Crisp takes a little longer than most air fryers.
